How to Build a Vision Instance of Oracle E-Business Suite R12 12.1.3 using Oracle Virtual Box
Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) is a comprehensive suite of business applications that helps enterprises run their operations more efficiently and effectively. Oracle EBS R12 12.1.3 is the latest release that includes new features, enhancements, and fixes for improved stability, security, and performance[^2^].
One of the benefits of Oracle EBS R12 12.1.3 is that it supports Oracle VM Virtual Appliances, which are pre-configured and pre-installed software images that can be imported into Oracle VM Manager or Oracle VM VirtualBox to create virtual machines (VMs) on a server or a desktop[^1^]. These VMs can be used for testing, development, training, or demonstration purposes.
One of the available Oracle VM Virtual Appliances for Oracle EBS R12 12.1.3 is the Single Node VISION Demo appliance, which contains a unified VM with the EBS database and application tiers. The VISION Demo database is a fully configured sample database that contains sample data and transactions for various business scenarios[^1^]. This appliance can be used to explore the functionality and features of Oracle EBS R12 12.1.3 without having to install and configure it from scratch.
In this article, we will show you how to build a Vision Instance of Oracle EBS R12 12.1.3 using Oracle Virtual Box, which is a free and open source software that allows you to run multiple VMs on your desktop or laptop. The steps are as follows:

Extract the downloaded zip file to a folder on your computer.

Browse to the folder where you extracted the zip file and select the file named EBS1213_VISION.ovf. Click on Next.
Review the appliance settings and make any changes as needed. For example, you can change the name, memory size, CPU cores, network adapter, etc. Click on Import.
Wait for the import process to complete. You should see a new VM named EBS1213_VISION in the Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager.
